Sydney has a fairly good attitude to accessibility and new and renovated buildings are required by law to include wheelchair access. Most of the city’s tourist attractions have good facilities and most car parks provide dedicated parking bays. The website www.accessibility.com.au gives detailed information on accessible venues in Sydney and www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au gives contact details for various organisations that may be of help. It also has a map of accessible parking spaces in the CBD. Information about accessible transport can be found at the transport infoline (telephone 13 1500, TTY 1800 637 500, www.sydneytransport.net.au). Accessible Sydney buses display the wheelchair symbol. All monorail trains are accessible. Taxis can be hailed from the street or at taxi ranks. There is no ‘lift’ fee applicable in New South Wales. To book a wheelchair accessible taxi, call 8332 0200.
