The capital city has a fairly large number of automatic teller machines (ATMs or cash points). All local banks provide them onsite but many local shopping malls also have the odd ATM. Many of the larger hotels have cash machines in the lobby, as do some supermarkets. Outside Doha, ATMs are less prevalent with fewer banks and retail establishments. Qatari banks do not charge transaction fees for withdrawals from remote banks, but remote banks may charge a fee. The systems accepted in most ATMs are American Express, Cirrus, Plus, Visa Electron, MasterCard and Visa.
