General Information » Getting Around » Bus

Presently no public bus system exists in Qatar, although plans for a public bus service that will operate in the downtown area have been in play for some time. In all likelihood, the bus will not be readily available that soon, but should be operating at some level when the Asian Games come to Qatar in December 2006. Work developing the new taxicab system, which operates at a generous fare, is the current priority. The buses, small and large, that are visible throughout the city are privately owned and used to transport workers to and from work sites.
