General Information » Getting Around » Air Travel

With Doha as its hub, the national carrier Qatar Airways has been expanding rapidly in recent years and now serves 65 destinations worldwide. In 2005 the airline placed orders for up to 80 new aircraft and will be among the first to take delivery of the new Airbus A-380 ‘super-jumbo.’ Doha International Airport accommodates over 20 passenger airlines and is currently undergoing an expansion programme to cater to the growing number of visitors to Qatar. Just a few kilometres away, the new airport is being constructed, ready to offer state of the art facilities to airlines and passengers. (see p.8).

The existing airport has a well-stocked duty free shop selling the usual array of electronics, perfumes and alcohol (for departing passengers only).
