With a Gross Domestic Product per capita will overtaking that of Switzerland, Qatar is one of the richest nations on earth.

Thanks mainly to its abundant reserves of oil and gas, and the high prices these have commanded in recent years, Qatar has one of the strongest and fastest growing economies in the world. Analysts predict that in the near future, the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita will overtake that of Switzerland, effectively making Qatar the richest nation on earth.

Qatar has also embarked on an ambitious programme to develop residential, commercial, leisure and entertainment projects, to completely overhaul the country’s infrastructure. Qatar has hosted a number of prestigious international events, including the 15th Asian Games held in Doha in December 2006.
