For longer stays, apart’hotels (hotel apartments) provide visitors with hotel service and apartment living conditions. Advantages to staying in an apart’hotel include fully-furnished apartments, private kitchens, business centres, wireless internet access, and 24 hour reception service. However, most lack character and some are in shady areas.

The Citadines chain is the best known, with fifteen apart’hotels spread throughout the city. Chains like Citadines conform to the same rating system hotels with which hotels are categorized. Citadines’ flagship property, the Citadines Paris Opéra Vendôme, is comparable to a four-star hotel.

Numerous websites, such as www.paris.craigslist.org contain ads offering direct-from-owner apartment rentals as well. While amenities may be fewer and regulation non-existent, the experience of staying in an actual Parisian apartment for a week or a month is often worth it.
