General Information » Getting Around » Train

France prides itself on its fast and efficient trains. Its Train à Grande Vitesse (TGV), or high-speed train, goes from Gare du Nord to Brussels in less than an hour and a half, and to London in under three hours. The newest in the TGV family, TGV Est, goes from Paris Gare de l’Est to Strasbourg in two hours 20 minutes. All tickets can be purchased at any of Paris’ six train stations, SNCF shops around town, or online at www.voyages-sncf.com, run by Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer (SNCF), France’s national railway company.
