Money exchanges are found all over Muscat and Salalah, offering good service and exchange rates (often better than the banks). Exchange houses are usually open from 08:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 19:00, and often operate in the evenings and at weekends.

Alternatively, hotels will usually exchange money and traveller’s cheques at the standard hotel rate (ie. poor!). At Seeb International Airport, there is a Travelex counter before immigration to facilitate visa payments.
