Larger shops, hotels and restaurants in Muscat and Salalah accept major credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa) and they will often have the card logos displayed at the entrance. However, if you are travelling in the interior, or are shopping at souks and smaller shops, cash is usually the only form of payment accepted.
