General Information » Money » Banks

The well-structured and ever-growing network of local and international banks, strictly controlled by the Central Bank of Oman, offers the full range of commercial and personal banking services. Transfers can be made without difficulty as there is no exchange control and the Oman rial is freely convertible to other currencies. Bank headquarters are clustered in Ruwi, Muscat’s central business district (CBD). There are branches all over Muscat and Salalah, and in major towns such as Nizwa, Sur and Sohar.

Banking hours are usually 08:00 to 12:00 or 13:00 (Saturday – Wednesday) and some are also open 08:00 to 11:30 on Thursdays.
