Most of Oman’s hotels have wheelchair access and toilet facilities for people with special needs. However, when it comes to catering for people with special needs, Oman has a long way to go. Some places do have wheelchair ramps, although these are often really nothing more than delivery ramps, hence the steep angles! There are reserved parking spaces for the physically challenged, and drivers tend to leave these open as the police carry out regular inspections.





Meeting the Challenge

Hotels with specially adapted rooms for the physically challenged include the Al Bustan, Grand Hyatt, Muscat InterContinental, Golden Tulip Resort (Khasab), Radisson SAS, Shangri-La and Crowne Plaza. The Chedi in Muscat will arrange the necessary facilities on request.
