New Zealand may be a small and isolated country but is has a history of punching above its weight. With a population of just over four million, it has fewer people than many big cities around the world, and can offer an enviable quality of life.

Since its settlement by Europeans, New Zealand has attracted immigrants from around the world. All are drawn to its far-flung shores by the promise of wide open spaces, a free and democratic society, and some of the best living standards in the world. Internationally, New Zealand has a reputation for standing up for itself. It was the first country in the world to declare itself nuclear-free and is a leading proponent of ‘green’ policies. Employment in New Zealand is at a record high, with demand for skilled workers still outstripping supply. Kiwis are renowned for their friendliness and newcomers normally receive a warm welcome. There is, however, quite a bit of red-tape to break through before you will be able to call Aotearoa home.
