B&Bs and guesthouses are plentiful in the city, with the cosier options located in the Lower East Side, TriBeCa, Soho and Brooklyn. Many are no cheaper than hotels, but they are far more personal with fewer rooms, congenial staff and a family atmosphere. Almost all of them will offer basic amenities including free internet connection, cable TV and in-room telephone as well as continental breakfasts.
