General Information » Places To Stay » Campsites

There’s not much camping going on in the city, but if you venture further afield you will find some very beautiful places to pitch your tent. The NY Parks Department (www.nycgovparks.org) has set up a division called the Urban Park Rangers, who aim to help people get back to nature. During the summer months, they organise various camping trips to parks in the city. To find out more information, and reserve your place on a camping trip, all you have to do is call 311 and ask for the Urban Park Rangers.

If you’re a hardcore camper and you’d rather go it alone, the official New York State Tourism website (www.iloveny.com) lists various state parks where camping is permitted.
