General Information » Money » Banks

A strong network of banks in New York includes all the major American and international names, each with several branches around the city. To find a particular bank’s nearest branch, it is best to check on their website - not only will you find out branch locations, but also what services are available at each branch (like whether there is a customer service desk or an ATM).

Without US residency and a social security number, you can’t open a bank account. For more information on opening a bank account, please see p.80.

Banking hours vary from one to another, but they are generally 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. Most are closed on public holidays.
