There are over 250 train stations in the tri-state area along some 20 railway lines. These form an essential part of the daily commute for over 150 million passengers in and out of New York City. The train network is formed by three main players: the Long Island Railroad and the Metro-North Railroad (both operated by the MTA), and New Jersey Transit.
