General Information » Getting Around » Motorcycles

The number of motorcyclists on London’s roads shows that riders aren’t put off by any dangers faced – the risks posed are about the same as anywhere else in the UK.

Filtering between lanes is allowed but it’s illegal to ride in bus lanes, many of which now have enforcement cameras. It is normally possible to find a parking space in the City and West End during peak hours, although at times it can take some patience. Some local authorities allow motorcycles to park free of charge in residents-only parking spaces, and there are bike bays with anchors for attaching a heavy-duty chain. Motorcycles are not subject to the Congestion Charge.
