General Information » Getting Around » Airport Transfer

There are two air-conditioned bus services which run from Kuwait International Airport to the main bus terminal located in the area of Mirqab in Kuwait City. One bus is operated by Kuwait Public Transport Company (KPTC) and the other is operated by Citybus. Both buses follow the same route (Route 501) in both directions and the cost for the entire journey one way is 250 fils. There are five main stops along the route, although the drivers will stop almost anywhere if flagged down. The 16km journey takes anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic. The first bus departs the airport at 05:15 and the last bus departs at 22:35.

Unless you are on a budget, if you need to head directly to Kuwait City, the use of a taxi would be preferable. For KD 5 you can travel from the airport to most locations within a radius of about 17 kms, including Kuwait City, Salmiya and Fintas. An additional KD 2 will get you to Jahra, Ahmadi and Mangaf. Alternative transport is available in ‘limousines’ which will cost between KD 7 and KD 18 to Kuwait City, depending on whether you opt for a station wagon or a stretch limo.
