The Ministry of Communication is responsible for the postal system. Delivery of post to residential addresses is not as reliable as delivery to a work address or a post box, which may be rented for KD 4 annually after an initial payment of KD 7 (including key charge). All incoming post is subject to customs inspection. Post to and from the USA, Europe and Australia can take anything from three days to six weeks as delays are often incurred in Kuwait. Deliveries within the GCC should take approximately three days. Letters (up to 20g) cost 25 fils to Kuwaiti addresses, 50 fils to GCC countries and 150 fils to the rest of the world.

Post should be handed in at any of the post offices operating throughout Kuwait. To ensure delivery it is recommended that all items be registered, although it is not possible to register express letters or packages. Parcels may be sent from the main post office, located in Fahad Al Salem Street in Kuwait City, or from any of the larger post offices. An express service, Mumtaz Post, has priority in both Kuwait and the country of delivery. Stamps are available at all post offices.

A slightly more expensive option for getting an item delivered urgently is the use of a courier service.
