Kuwait’s summer climate can be compared to the dry heat omitted from an oven when you are cooking your Sunday roast! It is extreme. Temperatures will reach in excess of 50°C (122°F) in the sun. Fortunately the country does not experience the same levels of humidity as that found in other areas of the Gulf.

Winters can be cold with temperatures of 15°C (59°F) during the day, dropping to single digits at night. Cloudbursts between October and April can result in severe flooding.

The Shamal, the north wind that blows from Iraq, occurs primarily during the spring months and coats all of Kuwait in a fine dust. When it blows in summer it raises the temperature considerably and the sky takes on a dusty hue.

The wonderful weather during the short spring and autumn periods, with average daily temperatures of 25°C (77°F), is very pleasant. Annual rainfall tends to be between one and seven inches (25 - 180mm), although recent years have seen increased rainfall during particular periods resulting in annual rainfall exceeding 13 inches (350mm).
