If you lose property, or it is stolen, you’ll need to make a report to the local police station as quickly as possible. Ask your hotel or call the hotline (2527 7177) to find the location.

If you think you left something in a taxi, call the taxi hotline (1872 920) and they will broadcast details to all drivers. For public transport, call the company’s hotline for help.

Remember also to cancel any missing credit cards by calling the relevant company: American Express (2811 6122), Mastercard (800 966 677), or Visa (800 900 782). You’ll also need to contact your country’s consulate if you have lost your passport. See p.27 for a list of embassies and consulates.

Finally, check your travel insurance policy to see how you should report the loss to them, and to make sure that you have all the documentation they will need to process your claim.
