Switzerland has an extensive railway network that is clean, safe and reliable. If you’re looking to head further, you will find connections to all corners of Europe, including Berlin, Brussels, Paris, South of France, Italy or Spain. If you plan to make a few train journeys it is worthwhile subscribing to a half price concession or discount card (‘abonnement’). In some cases you can also get half price fares on boats and cable cars or other modes of transport. It costs SFr 150 for a year, which may seem a lot, but after a couple of long journeys you’ll find yourself saving quite a bit of money.
