Facilities for the physically challenged are improving in Geneva. Multi-level stores and shopping malls usually have lifts and specially fitted toilets. Many larger restaurants also have special facilities but this is a detail you should confirm when making your reservation. Some public toilets are specially adapted for wheelchair use (there is one near the flower clock). At most road crossings the pavements slope down to allow wheelchair access, although public transport remains fairly inaccessible. However, there are special transport services for the physically challenged (see Taxi Companies, [p.32]). You’ll have no trouble finding special parking places for the physically challenged, although be sure to display an official sticker on your car or you’ll be heavily fined. These stickers (‘macaron handicapé) are available free of charge from the Brigade du Traffic (27 Boulevard Helvétique, 022 327 6627) on presentation of a medical certificate.

Geneva International Airport does have some special facilities for the physically challenged, but some additional assistance will probably be required (see Meet and Greet, [p.19]).
