Like with everything else, Dublin’s accommodation options have changed a lot over the last decade. However, that is not to say that the new has replaced the old; it has simply added to the mix.

With great care, many historic properties have been restored to meet the needs of a 21st century clientele, while still keeping their old charm and retaining that all-important integrity. New builds have added to the range, resulting in a Dublin that now caters to all sorts of tastes and budgets. While the size of your wallet will certainly influence your choice of accommodation, location is a major factor in a city like Dublin, where public transport can be a challenge. There is a lot to be said for the suburbs, such as Dun Laoghaire, if you have the luxury of time and want to avoid the weekend crowds, but if you are only here for a short visit, it pays to be staying as central as possible.
