General Information » Money » Credit Cards

While Ireland is becoming less of a cash culture, many people still prefer coins to plastic. However, the majority of larger establishments accept most major credit cards today and Visa or MasterCard should be fine almost anywhere except markets or taxis (American Express and Diners Club cards are more tricky). More often than not you are required to key in your pin (depending on the card), so make sure you get it before you set off on a shopping spree. If your card goes missing, contact the relevant 24 hour service hotline immediately and ask them to block it so that no further transactions can be made.
