General Information » Places To Stay » Hotel Apartments

If you’re staying in Beijing for more than a few weeks, you may want to consider renting an apartment. They are less claustrophobic than a hotel room, with a kitchenette for those nights when you can’t bear the thought of another takeaway. At the top end of the scale are the fully serviced hotel-style apartments, which can be rented out daily, monthly, weekly and even yearly, with longer terms securing discounted prices. Most come with the added benefits of a hotel like a gym, pool, security staff and daily maid service. One-bedroom apartments start from about ¥17,000 per month.

Self-catering apartments are often in residential complexes and can be rented directly from the owner or through an agency. Ranging wildly in price but certainly cheaper than fully serviced apartments, they start from around ¥5,500 per month for a one-bedroom place. Check out www.moveandstay.com/beijing for an overview of what’s on offer or see local magazines (p.51).
