Airport Transport

Lying 26km north-east of the city centre, Beijing’s Capital International Airport is currently only accessible by taxi or bus, although a planned rail link to and from Dongzhimen is due for completion for the 2008 Olympics. Taxis should take between 45 and 90 minutes depending on traffic, and shouldn’t cost more than ¥100, including the ¥15 Airport Expressway toll. You should join the taxi queue outside the arrivals hall and never accept a ride from an illegal cabbie, who will almost certainly rip you off. Six buses run from outside the arrivals hall into the city. The most useful are: bus 1 that runs to Fangzhuang via Dabeiyao, where you can access subway Line 1 at Guomao; bus 2 that runs to Xidan via Dongzhimen; and bus 3 that runs to Beijing Railway Station via Chaoyangmen. For details of operating hours and stops call the 24 hour hotline on 010 6459 4375 or visit http://en.bcia.com.cn.
