It's hard not to fall in love with a city like Barcelona, with its high quality of life, good weather, progressive attitude and thriving nightlife, arts and culture. And it is redefining itself, from a regional capital to a global city. You can't walk far without seeing a construction site, and whole neighbourhoods, such Poble Nou and the Forum area, are getting complete makeovers. New waves of immigration from Africa, Asia, the Americas and other parts of Europe are also reshaping the city's demographics and influencing the job, consumer goods, services and housing markets. This expansion does bring some negatives (like rising rents), but it's an exciting time to live here.

Whether you're still toying with the idea of making the leap, have just shipped your last boxes over, or have been here a while, this chapter is designed to steer you through all aspects of making this great city feel like home.
