Motorbikes and, in particular scooters, are very popular ways to get about. Car drivers are used to having them buzz past, and so remain alert, though they don't always leave much space. Dawdling pedestrians are just as likely to provide a hazard as cars. Bikes and scooters are useful for nipping through traffic and can be used in areas of the Ciutat Vella that cars would never reach.
