General Information » Getting Around » Metro

Barcelona's color coded and well signed Metro (www.tmb.net / 93 318 70 74) provides a frequent service between the city neighborhoods and bus and train lines. Single fares are €1.25, but the better value is the T-10 (10-trip ticket) for €6.90. Tickets can be purchased from multi-lingual electronic kiosks in stations, and you can pay with cash or credit card. They can also be used with any of the city's ATM – Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (www.atm.cat) – integrated transport services.

Trains runs about every five minutes. However, despite being a city known for its late nights, the schedule for its Metro is somewhat limited. The service is available from Sundays to Thursdays from 05.00 to midnight, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 05.00 until 02.00 the following morning. The city has been testing 24-hour a service on Saturdays, with the trial period ending in October 2007. If city officials decide it was a success, all indicators point to the possibility of a continuing overnight Saturday service.
