General Information » Getting Around » Boat

Boat travel takes a few different shapes, from cruise ships, ferries to the nearby Balearic Islands or tourist tours of the city's shoreline and port area.

Barcelona has become a popular Mediterranean port for the cruising industry and most well-known companies pass through regularly.

If you're hankering for a bit of island life, Acciona Trasmediterrànea (www.trasmediterranea.es / 93 295 91 00) and Iscomar (www.iscomar.com / 90 211 91 28) have ferries and catamarans sailing from Barcelona to Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. Trasmediterránea also sail to Rome.

There are a number of tour operators docked near Moll d'Espanya and Port Vell that will take you out on the sea for a few hours and tell you about Barcelona's coastal history and its expansive port project. See for more on these tours.
