The Municipal Institute of People with Disabilities (IMD, see www.bcn.es) is the body established by Barcelona City Council to promote the cause of people with disabilities. The airport and tourist attractions are well provisioned, although Parc Guell can be difficult to get around, due to its steep slopes. Restaurants generally have easy access toilets. Barcelona’s Metro, unfortunately, is not very well catered for. Only Line 2, the Purple Line, has lifts in all its stations, although there are plans to improve this situation. Street navigation is considerably easier, with lots of ramps, and parking areas will have spaces for disabled drivers.
