Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants. Common sense should be applied; a shop that focuses on selling small volume, low value goods is unlikely to accept credit cards. Equally, local budget restaurants are unlikely to have the facility. Some smaller local traders, particularly in the souk, will seek a premium when payment by credit card is requested, or at least will be happy to offer greater discounts for cash.
