General Information » Money » Banks

Bahrain considers itself to be the banking centre of the region, and is well represented with banks. There are a number of international banks, in addition to many local and regional banks offering a full range of banking services. The head offices are all located in Central Manama, the Diplomatic Area, or in Seef, but most of the major banks have a number of branches and ATM machines available in outlying areas. In addition, most banks in Bahrain have the facility to access funds from other banks’ ATM machines, but be aware that they will charge you 500 fils for the privilege. ATM machines are available in most malls and many major supermarket branches; information is available at the banks’ branches. Opening hours for banks are varied, though most banks will have at least one branch that is open between 08:00 and 16:00 from Saturday to Thursday. Most banks offer money exchange services, though not all carry a large quantity of foreign currency unless you call in advance.
