General Information » Getting Around » Getting Around

By far the easiest way to get around Bahrain is by car, either your own or in a taxi. Bahrain has a recently renovated bus service, which will get you around the city extremely cheaply. The buses are relatively new and air-conditioned and are clearly marked on the front and side with their destinations. However, there is no easy access to bus timetables, which means catching one is a bit of a hit-and-miss affair.

A reasonably priced option is to jump into one of the ‘shared taxis’ or taxi pickup trucks that roam around the streets of Manama. These will get you where you want to go cheaply, but will pick and drop others off along the way; an interesting opportunity to meet local residents, but only if time isn’t a big issue! Walking and cycling are limited, and there are no trains or trams.
