The two main English newspapers in Bahrain are the Gulf Daily News (GDN) and the Bahrain Tribune, which are widely available in shops, hotels and stores and cost 200 fils.

There are several local Arabic newspapers available: Akhbar Al Khaleej, Al Ayam and Al Wasat News. The major international newspapers are available one or two days after publication and generally at several times the published price. Some of the British Sundays may be missing some of their supplements – the Sunday Times Magazine is not available, although the paper’s other supplements are usually included.

English papers predominate but other languages are also catered for with limited circulation. These tend to be sold only in the major hotels and selected large shops and shopping malls. Censorship on foreign newspapers is minimal, though certain editions have occasionally been unavailable in the past when they have included articles critical of the local government or lifestyle.

There are a number of English magazines published in Bahrain which provide information on a range of subjects: Bahrain This Month (events, lifestyle and local news), Bahrain Confidential (business and lifestyle), Arabian Motors (vehicle purchase & lease), Arabian Homes (property), Gulf Industry (oil and industry), GFI (Finance), Bahrain Woman (female interests), Arabian Night (top-end profiles and products), MEED (business) and Coeds (youth magazine).
