General Information » Essential Info » Women

Women don’t have problems while visiting Bahrain, in the sense that there is not overt harassment and it’s a fairly safe place. However, female visitors do receive unwanted stares on occasion and if you don’t want to draw attention to yourself, it’s best to avoid wearing tight or revealing clothing, and walking in downtown Manama or on Exhibition Avenue alone at night. In general, if you feel uncomfortable, ask a passerby for help, or go into the nearest hotel or cafe.
