General Information » Essential Info » Children

Abu Dhabi is a great place for kids of all ages. Parks and amusement centres abound, and if that’s not enough for the little ones, there’s always the beach. The Activities section will give a better idea of what there is to do with kids, as will the Family Explorer (Dubai & Abu Dhabi).

Hotels and shopping malls are well geared up for children, offering everything from babysitting services to kids’ activities. Restaurants, on the other hand, may have children’s menus but tend not to have many high chairs; it’s best to check when making reservations. Discounted rates for children are common – just ask.

Children are well-loved here. Taxis will often give preference to a woman with small children and will sometimes ask male passengers to give up their ride for you. Don’t be surprised if complete strangers come up and chat to your child, give them a sweet or ask to take a photo of them. Its generally quite innocent and they will not object if you say no.
